For the third time, MEF schools represented Turkey at the Model European Parliament

MEF Schools students received thumbs up from the Model European Parliament.

Only MEF Schools IB students represent our country at the Model European Parliament since 2005. Our students who went to Spain and Slovenia with this intention last year represented Turkey this year at the Model European Parliament that was put into practice in Sofia city of Bulgaria from the 14th to the 22nd of April 2007.

The group that consists of 5 students, namely Can Degerli, Nadejda Grigorova, Maya Akbay, Seren Ozcan and Yasemin Erkan who represented Turkey at the Model European Parliament that took place in Sofia are all IB – DP (International Bachelors Degree Diploma Program) students.

The other countries that were in Turkey’s group are as follows; Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and England.

Each student that participates in the Parliament is a member of one committee and is commissioned to prepare and submit request for proposal regarding the themes that appears in the commission they are members of. Our students, in the committees they are assigned with, prepared request for proposals in regards to themes such as “the future of the matter of reconciliation on the European Union Constitution; the role of the EU on the political developments that are taking place in the world; how the EU should combat against the question of the trafficking of humans in an enlarged EU; and what kinds of measures should the EU adopt in order to prevent the sex discrimination at workplaces” and submit them to the Model European Parliament.
