Support To Mothers Programme
Beşiktaş Municipality and MOCEF (Mother Child Education Foundation) has executed this programme with the collaboration of MEF Schools. The programme has been realised in the light of the results of 'Child Health' research conducted by MOCEF in 2004, which revealed significant levels of psychological disorder in infants in Turkey. As the specialists exposed the fact that the faults by the parents in early childhood have negative psychological effects, MEF Schools became interested in the programme. Support to Mothers Programme, which aims to reduce the mentioned effects and to raise the future adults as healthy individuals, has been executed in socio-economically poor districts of İstanbul. An integration based group process has taken place between the specialists and the mothers of low income levels with children of 3-6 years. During the three-month programme, the specialists have discussed with mothers the issues ranging from the meaning of motherhood and childhood to child rearing and mother-child relationship, from abnormal symptoms in the child to activities that will help the emotional, mental and social progress of the child.
